This is the sad story of Pantai Manis (Papar, Sabah). Once upon a time, this (now-deserted) beach used to be very popular among local and outside tourists.
Sadly, those were all some yesteryear memories that had long gone. Could be forever. For the past few years, Pantai Manis has been experiencing (yes, it still does!) a dramatic change – geomorphologically.
Year by year, it moves further towards the mainland. Banyak kemudahan asas (gerai, jalanraya, etc) rosak. Bahkan, elemen-elemen estetik asli Pantai Manis turut dibinasakan.
What has happened? Sutera Harbour might have the answer.

Sutera Harbour is specially built by the so-called super-rich capitalists to cater the needs of some minority bourgeoisies. Golongan kapitalis ini mengira untung setiap tahun. Para bourgeois pula senang-senang mendapat segala macam kemudahan elit di Sutera Harbour.
Malangnya, Pantai Manis (dan, ratusan ahli komuniti tempatan – the working class especially!) – have to pay the price for this newly-created luxury. Yes, a luxury that they, themselves, will never have the opportunity to taste.
How sad is that? And remember, this is only a tiny slice of a much bigger reality.
Bhd. untuk projek tambakan ini (prior to the development of Sutera Harbour). Hmm?

I think that we can do something about the situation like Pantai Manis, papar. We can make a report not just in Pantai Manis but also a place similarly like what had happened there.
Peace to all.... |

I think that the human made modification on the coast line of west coast especially Sutera Harbor does effect geomophological changes of Pantai Manis in Papar. Yet, this issue is quite controversial from political aspect because it has something to do with the state goverment policy. An investigation or analysis should be done to detect these changes. Perhaps an analysis of an air borne foto form many different time frame could help elaborate these changes. The results might convince and support the evidence of present day change of Pantai Manis. To Mr Ramzah; Sir, why dont we take a trip to Pantai Manis and experience the sad story of Pantai Manis there. May be this case is a good "Alat Bantu Mengajar" for us to learn about EIA.
I think ah, the idea of balance between the aspects of both physical and human environment in 'Pinggir Pantai' by Mr Ramzah last lecture does make sense.
Why im agree?
The coast line nowadays actually a result of the process that happens for a thousands2 of years ago. It comprise of a selections of physical aspect such as geological structures of the soil, the vegitation, the organisms etc, that helps create the shape of the coast line. The evolution process continues untill all of the natural elements reaches balance stage. Once disturb there will be no more balance and once again the process have to start from the begining.
Supporting point.
-West coast coast line modifications by human cause imbalance of the geomorphology of the whole systems in makro view.
